What is big, round and orange that we pick in October?
Pumpkins!
After reading Pumpkin, Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington Kindergarten students review the life cycle of the pumpkin. Then student rotated through 4 different learning stations:
Use pocket chart to put picture in order.
- Float or Sink – different size pumpkins, fruits and gourds were provided. Student created a hypothesis and then tested thier theory using a bucket of water. Then they Filled out the chart with the guess and data.
- What a Pumpkin needs – Watch Pumpkin Life Cycle (Discovery Education) and then students sort cards on T chart (printed in color and laminated)
- Pumpkins and Watermelons – watch Mayo’s Watermelon seeds. The students use the cards to compare how the story is the same and different than the pumpkin life cycle. (Sorting sheet and Pictures)
- Watch Little Willy Time Lapse – Students draw what they would do with a giant pumpkin. Have a teacher or volunteer write what the student drew. Drawing sheet
